What started off as a mission to prove to others evolved into a need to prove to myself. Not that I was capable, but that I was committed. How badly do I want this? What exactly is it that I want…?
What I want, is to be heard, not just listened to. My music acts an an archival capsule of my life, wants, fears and desires. I know that I’m not always easy to understand, or ‘figure out’. Consider this tape the Alexandru Bleu guidebook It projects me to the world, in my true form, and amidst all contradictions. I am who I am, and I wouldn’t change a f*cking thing.
What success looks like to one man looks different to another. Music occupies a space within entertainment and consumer culture where value is too often determined by commercial success, but when you strip the art from the artistry to achieve this, who’s really winning?
Sure, a new car would be great. But success to me looks like authenticity in its fullest capacity. And that’s what my mixtape is. The whims and the woes. The bark and the bite.
