Biography
Alexandru Sones-Dawkins, known professionally as Alexandru Bleu, was born in Ladbroke Grove, West London, on 29 November 1998. He spent part of his early childhood living with his Jamaican grandparents in Willesden before briefly relocating to Toronto, Canada. In 2003, he returned to London to live with his father in Kilburn, while later spending weekends in Brixton with his mother.
He attended St Mary’s RC Primary School in Kilburn, later transferring to St Mary’s C of E in Hendon where he was frequently suspended or sent home for bad behaviour, despite being at the top of his classes. In 2013 he enrolled at the BRIT School to study Theatre, and in 2015, he moved to Brixton to live with his mother and began his A Levels in Drama, English Literature and Media Studies at Westminster Kingsway College.
In 2016, Bleu was scouted by NEXT Models and left college after his AS levels to pursue modelling professionally, soon becoming a regular on the Milan Fashion Week runways.

Higher Education and Activism
In 2017, Alexandru undertook a foundation course at Kingston University. The following year, he began his BA in Media and Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London, before transferring to CEU San Pablo in Madrid in 2019; he graduated with honours in 2021. During his studies, Alexandru became an active campaigner; In 2020, he co-chaired the “Run for Our Future” race and was a prominent figure in the Black Lives Matter movement, raising funds for bereaved families and justice campaigns. His activism was covered by outlets such as Sky News, Ham & High, and Camden New Journal. In September 2025, he began his Master’s degree in Critical Theory at King’s College London.
Modelling
Alexandru made his modelling debut at Milan Fashion Week in January 2017, walking for brands such as Versus Versace, Trussardi, Ports, and Wood Wood. He went on to close the show for Liam Hodges at London Fashion Week and became a regular on both menswear and womenswear season runways. Over the course of his career, Alexandru has appeared in national and international campaigns for Jaded London, United Colors of Benetton, Hypebeast Clark’s, and Inkey List.
His editorial presence includes multiple appearances in Vogue.IT, Vogue.com, Vogue World and GQ Style, with over eight features across the Vogue network alone. He also modelled for Vivienne Westwood while maintaining a consistent presence in London Fashion Week shows in both 2022 and 2023.
Music
Alexandru released his first demo, “Wrong Side,” in 2020, which gained radio airplay on local station Soho Radio. Soon to follow was a string of bedroom demos over the lockdown period with frequent collaborator INDUSTRIAC, who he met on SoundCloud. In 2023, while participating in a young artist development programme, he recorded “Missions” with producer Toddla T. The track was later released in 2024 to accompany his 2024 London Marathon journey, which was the subject of Channel 4 documentary, More Than a Runner, which explored his relationship with running and personal growth.
In 2025, Alexandru released his first studio single, “LINE OF ASSAULT,” which peaked at number 8 on the UK iTunes Rap Chart. The track, characterised by its raw delivery and intricate wordplay, was described by Wordplay Magazine as highlighting “Alexandru Bleu’s intricate flows, raw delivery, and undeniable presence.”

- Alexandru’s father is Afro-Jamaican, and his mother is English, with Afro-Dominican, British and Irish decent.
- He has spent most of his life in London, but has also lived in Toronto, Madrid and Dublin. He also worked extensively in Milan between 2017-2018.
- He has a degree in Media and Sociology.
- In 2023 he completed a level 2 module in Music Technology: Mixing & Mastering.
- In 2022 he completed a level 3 course in Principles of Social Media for Business.
- He has a charity fundraising portfolio of almost £200,000.
- He completed the London Marathon in 2024 despite contracting iliotibial band syndrome in week 5 of training. He managed to finish in 5:25.
- His favourite show is The Vampire Diaries and his favourite film series is Scream.
- Though born in Ladbroke Grove in 1998 he spent most of his childhood living in and around Kilburn, and later Brixton after a brief stint in Toronto, Canada where he attended pre-kindergarten.
- While attending the Brit School, he lived in the Isle of Dogs before moving to Enfield resulting in a 3 and a half hour round trip to school every day.
